Description:

The Leadership Development Program is designed to split camp time between learning how to become effective leaders and counselors, as well as spend time as a senior camper. Participants will have the skills to become a lifeguard, work at Bank Street Summer Camp, or a different camp, and translate their new skill set into other jobs or other positions of responsibility. The Leadership Development Program swims at least twice a week.

For the Leaders who are ready, there will be a two-week internship from July 29 to August 9, where they will spend the day with a camp group as counselor support. Leaders who still might need some more development will continue with the regular Leadership Development Program. At the end of the course they will receive a certificate of completion as well as an evaluation.

All registrants of the Leadership Development Program must email one paragraph to Cookie, the Camp Director, focusing on why they would like to participate in the program. Cookie’s email is cmellitz@bankstreet.edu

Participants will learn how to interview as well as develop a strong resume, which they must submit the following year should they want to be a paid staff member at camp. This program has become so successful that we only hire High School students that have participated in this program.
